Minoritärer Koproduktionsfonds

What it is

The Minority Co-Production Fund supports international co-productions with minority German financial participation. It funds feature films, animated films, and documentaries of outstanding artistic quality with high festival and commercial potential. Feature and documentary films must be at least 79 minutes long (children's films 59 minutes). Total production costs should be at least €2 million (documentaries €700,000), with German financing of at least €350,000 (documentaries €150,000). German financial participation must be at least 10 percent but less than the lead foreign producer's share. The director must have international A-festival experience with at least one short or feature film. Filming may not have begun before application. The film must have theatrical release in Germany and the lead producer's country, with premiere at an international festival or German cinema. German-language dubbing or subtitles and an accessible version are required.

German production companies with a registered business or office in Germany who are producing international co-productions where the German financial contribution is less than that of the lead foreign producer.
