Two-stage reference distribution funding programme. Stage 1: reference funds are awarded based on a reference film's success measured in audience numbers or festival achievements. Stage 2: within three years of receiving the award decision, distributors can apply for the use of reference funds for a new project. Audience success generates reference points equal to attendance numbers in the year following theatrical release. Festival successes and prizes can be counted within two years before and after theatrical release. A feature film requires minimum 25,000 reference points; talent, children's and documentary films require minimum 10,000 reference points.
Film distributors regularly active in Germany who have released feature-length, talent, children's, documentary or animation films.
