What it is

This residency offers individual photographers self-directed time at Banff Centre with access to a private studio and a black and white darkroom. Artists can use the period for focused research and creation away from daily distractions. The residency is designed to support independent, self-guided artistic work rather than programmed activities.

What you get

2 to 6 weeks in a private photography studio with black-and-white darkroom and digital setup, single bedroom accommodation, all meals, and access to campus facilities; participant cost $1,001.39 per week after Banff Centre Arts Scholarship (which covers tuition plus contribution to accommodation and meals).

• Two-page resume describing academic, professional, and other relevant experience
• Two-page description of proposed project including theme and relevance to program
• 5-8 examples of previous or current work showcasing overall practice and darkroom skills, may include images, audio/video files, catalogues, reviews, or links to digital materials, 5 required
• List all materials, supplies and chemicals to be brought for project
• Select 3 possible residency dates within provided date windows (2-6 week minimum duration), 3 required
• Complete Financial Aid section for consideration for financial assistance
